Synopsis

This story tells the journey of birth from the baby’s perspective and the journey this baby took before being born. Starting as a tiny ‘stem cell’  created by combining one Mom’s cell and one Daddy’s cell, this little seed of a baby is  a major superstar. It has the power to copy itself and change  into millions of  different types of cells that make a baby unique .  This journey is very much like when we tell our children that they can be anything they want to be when they grow up.  A single stem cell can also be anything it wants to be when it ‘grows up’. This little seed  travels all alone at the very beginning, maybe experiencing  loneliness and boredom . But it is persistent and gains many friends by copying as it travels . These new friend cells seek and find a wonderful place to plant themselves inside their Mom’s body. There the cells  build a unique  person by copying and changing themselves to create millions, even billions, of  different kinds of cells. As the one stem cell copies itself and changes immensely, the baby grows bigger and bigger. Nine months later, the new baby enters  the beautiful world. The original little stem cell has finished its wonderful journey and happily so. The story approaches biology and science in a child-friendly way to explain the origin of where we come from and how we get into the world. It has  underlying themes of adventure, friendship and love.
