Synopsis

When 4-year-old sisters Gigi and Ryan began their search for a rescue dog to add to their family, they wrote down characteristics that wouldn't be a good fit: too small, too big, too serious and so on. The girls eventually found and fell in love with stray momma dog Sugar -- she was "too perfect" -- and their list became a children's book, Too Licky.

The book features 21 rescue dogs and their rescue stories. Their "too" traits will be illustrated by artist and rescue dog advocate, Cynthia Inks.

Included in the book are forewords by celebrity dog advocates, Deirdre Franklin (founder of the advocacy and rescue group Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc. and author of The Pit Bull Life: A Dog Lover's Companion), Tes M. Kurtz (the Rescue Dog writer and author of Anything Is PAWSible--Impossible Dog Dreams Come True) and Sophie Gamand (French award-winning photographer, animal advocate and creator of the series Wet Dog and Flower Power, Pit Bulls of the Revolution).

Proceeds from book sales benefit rescue organizations that support shelters as well as bully breed advocacy organizations.

"Too Licky" is Gigi's first published book. She and her sister, Ryan, came up with the idea for "Too Licky" at the age of 4 when their parents announced a move across the country and said, "we're getting a dog!" They began writing down characteristics for their new dog that wouldn't be a good fit: too small, too big, too serious and so on which became the beginnings of their book. After settling into their new home, the search for the perfect rescue dog began. With the help of rescue dog advocate, Cynthia, Gigi and Ryan met Sugar and she was 'perfect.' Now, they had the ending to their book. Gigi is now 6 (almost 7) and finishing up 1st grade in Jacksonville, Florida where she lives with her mom and dad, twin sister, Ryan, and Sugar.
