A secret of successful families is revealed through the Family Council model. Using his 40+ years of Family Council experience in his own home, Gordon Taylor shares how the council helps a family in a practical way reach goals, raise self-reliant children, teach leadership skills, and magnify the efforts of the family through the use of mission statements, rules and consequences, agendas, minutes, responsibilities and accountability. His examples of successes and failures add insight and a personal touch to the book. The book also contains forms that can be used in a Family Council Workbook as well as many researched references of authors who have contributed concepts and practical ideas useful to families but are beyond the scope of this publication.

Gordon is the father of four sons and four daughters and now 26 grandchildren. He is a retired Air Force officer with advanced degrees in education, business and information management. He has directed the development and training of computer systems for government and business. This book represents his decades of personal experience using council principles of management taught and used in the public and private sectors but, in this case, uniquely applied in the home. Gordon and his wife Susan have raised their large family using the Family Council principles as outlined with great success. They have lectured and shared the why's, what's and how's of Family Council in many community and church settings. The book is a summary of concepts and solutions for parenting taken from their Family Council minutes with supporting references. The companion website, www.familiesrforever.com, was developed to support conversations on the use of the Family Council Model for parenting. Both the book and website are based on a firm conviction, that God is a loving parent and can be a great help in our 24/7 service project called parenting using His model--Family Councils. Enjoy reading and sharing. The Taylor's would love to hear from you and about your experience with the book.
