Rita Warren lives in South Carolina. She is a 1998 graduate of the University of South Carolina. GO COCKS! It is at the University of South Carolina where Rita earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology, with a double minor in Education and Criminal Justice. In 2003, Rita became a Certified Dental Assistant, after she obtained her diploma in Expanded Duty Dental Assisting from Midlands Technical College. Shortly after becoming a CDA, Rita worked as an oral surgeon’s assistant for twelve years. Being an oral surgeon’s assistant was her number one specialty pick of choice in the field of dentistry. In 2007, Rita graduated as Summa Cum Laude, at Colorado Technical University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Currently, Rita is pursuing an associate’s degree in Hygiene. Rita Warren was inspired to write her first middle-grade children’s book, Where Is Ruby? while picking up her niece, Taylor, from school one day. It was then she realized her niece’s love of reading books—as her niece vociferously stated, “Boo Boo, I love to read books.” Soon after, she began to show Rita a few of the books she had gotten from the library. It was right then and there that Rita had an “Ah-Ha Moment.” Why not write a children’s book for her niece to read? From the auntie “Boo Boo” she loves so much and whom loves her back.
