Synopsis
A journey to happiness through an illicit romance.
Amy used to be a wild child, but ever since she married Marcus, she has worked hard to fit into his rigid military world. She has become an attentive mother of five, and she knows how to play the role that everyone expects of a colonel’s wife. Her life is predictable, until a trip to the emergency room lands her in the care of The Doctor.
In spite of her love for Marcus, Amy makes excuses to schedule follow-up appointments with her handsome, attentive, and sometimes arrogant surgeon. Their easy conversation quickly evolves into mutual attraction, and before long Amy finds herself living a double life. She is forced to admit that she is no longer content to be a stay-at-home mom, putting her own needs last every time—but sometimes putting herself first means risking the happiness of those she loves. Every choice she makes, from pursuing a degree and a career, to meeting with The Doctor in secret, to making friends outside of her husband’s social circles puts another strain on her seemingly idyllic marriage.
As she juggles her identities as a returning student, a spouse, a friend, a parent, and a lover, Amy feels herself coming apart at the seams. Pulled in opposite directions by the two men she desires, Amy is forced to choose not only between passions, but between futures as well.
Amy fears that putting herself first means risking the happiness of those she loves. But at the same time, she struggles with which is more important.
