Synopsis

South Devon's most scenic walking terrain is illustrated by specially designed maps and step-by-step route instructions which cover the entire South Devon section of the South West Way as well as varied routes in Dartmoor. All walks and route sections are graded according to distance and terrain, making it easy to select an appropriate route for each occasion. All Dartmoor walks are circular. Access and exit points on the Coastal Path are marked clearly and it is possible to walk the entire 114 mile route or to walk short sections. There is information on local accommodation, facilities and public transport close to the path. Each walk or route section is contained within one page or two facing pages, making it unnecessary to turn pages while walking. For each walk, features of note, interesting view points and objects connected with history or legend are drawn to the reader's attention and explained. There is general information on country walking, safety and local flora and fauna. A full colour front cover photograph portrays an attractive scene in the area. The exact area covered is indicated on the back cover and, in more detail, inside on the Key Map, which shows the distribution of walks.
