Synopsis

'Mangan noticed the name on the gate-TARA. No escaping from that. My father's favourite poem. Pompous ass that publisher. Didn't that spiv O'Connell come up to him somewhere and say I've called me house after you. And that must have been the captain of industry himself with his nose pressed against the glass like a child outside a bun-shop.
The mantle of Yeats rests uneasily on the shoulders of Francis Xavier Mangan: so great a reputation delicately supported by one. now rather weary, poem, anthologised beyond the call of duty. And his great hope for future glory is lost, doomed to gather dust in the office of Mangan's London publisher.
To the rescue come warm-hearted Molly Pratt, all kindness and concern: and committee woman Kate O'Connell, a mass of ambition and relentless enthusiasm. Though perhaps oblivion would be kinder...
