Synopsis
People who lived in East Kent during World War II were nearer to enemy-occupied Europe than they were to London. So it is not surprising that the casualty total for Kent itself was higher than those for neighbouring Sussex, Surrey and Essex put together. This book shows how much the county and its people suffered from 1939 to 1945 and lists every single known fatal incident caused by enemy action. It is a story which embraces, among other things, the Dam Busters, spies, flying bombs and a web of county-wide deceit which helped fool the Germans immediately prior to D-Day.
