Aims to teach the beginner, and those more experienced in tapestry or longstitch, the craft of needlepoint canvas work. A wide range of patterns are designed to appeal to the more expert embroiderer on the lookout for something creatively different. The author teaches a range of decorative and textual stitches which exploit the geometric qualities of canvas. Designs usually start at a central point and are then developed by counting threads, following a chart or graph. The colourful and hardwearing results can be applied to a wide range of personal and household items. Most designs are fairly quickly worked, making smaller items in particular suitable for gifts.
