First published over forty years ago, this complete collection of prose and poetry embodying the fundamental truths of Freemasonry is now reissued by popular demand. Designed for every man who belongs to a Masonic lodge, it gives in essence the universal teachings and philosophy of the Masonic Order. Throughout the ages the world's greatest writers have expressed universal fundamental truths. These truths Freemasonry has embodied in its teachings, philosophy, thought and ideals. In making his selections from the wealth of material available, Carl Glick has culled the wisdom of the ages and the echoes of that wisdom by twentieth-century writers to produce a volume that becomes a living tribute to Masons everywhere - and one to be enjoyed by families and friends alike. There is a tremendous range and variety of subject matter: quotations from the Bible, from the works of Milton, Shakespeare, Robert Burns, Kipling, Goethe, Tolstoy, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and numerous others. Arranged by topics, the groupings include Wisdom, Strength, Beauty, Fortitude, The Fatherhood of God, The Brotherhood of Man, and The Builders, to name but a few. Carl Glick has been careful to include, as well, selections from lesser-known Masonic writers, whose devotion to Masonry springs from the heart. Although they may not be known to the world, these men are of great stature in Masonic circles and, as such, rank high. An inspirational volume, A Treasury of Masonic Thought bears testimony to the spiritual growth inherent in all mankind. Every sincere and true Mason may aim to practise the eternal verities of this book in his everyday living.

The Glick family's association with Masonry goes back to 1857. During his many years as an active Mason and as an author and playwright, Carl Glick became increasingly aware of the host of great historical figures who were Masons as well. Many of them who were authors expressed Masonic thought in their writings. Their professions have ranged from poet to patriot, from soldier to statesman. Carl Glick was born in 1890 in Iowa, and was principally occupied as a university teacher. His writings include many short stories and articles, several children's books, mystery novels, a number of plays and non-fiction works.
