Hardcover. Etat : Good. Etat de la jaquette : Poor. First Edition. 118 pages (complete). A comfortable copy. The dustjacket is much worn, torn, marked and scuffed. It is secure and sure. The boards are healthy and steady. The contents have some mild evidence of contented use throughout. However, they are convivial, acute, clean, clear, merciless, confident, companionable. Please note that due to the weight of the book, should the book need be posted outside of South Africa, extra postage charges may be required. fk. Etat : NEAR FINE. First printing. A typically almost incredible work by Steadman, the culmination of more than 3 years research and work - - or to put it another way - "One genius takes on another. . . a wildly humorous exercise in bending, stretching and speculating on the activities of the so-called Father of Psychoanalysis. Ralph Steadman wields his shrewd wit and fierce pen to highlight the movements of Freud's life and career, from early childhood to the moment of death. Through a masterful interplay of text and illustration, each scene is transformed into a 'joking situation,' which the artist hilariously examines according to the techniques discussed by Freud himself in his 1905 book, Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious." Large format, illustrated with more than 50 major drawings and 25 vignettes. Index. 118 pp. Near fine in a very good minus dust jacket. (several short tears and other edgewear to the dj, original price of $17.95 on flap). N° de réf. du vendeur 81275

hardcover. Etat : Acceptable. Please see the condition note after this for details, if this is missing please consider Acceptable to mean poor quality that could include major staining, water damage, writing, missing dustjacket, etc etc. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only. hardcover. Etat : Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. 1st Edition. Published by Paddington Press Ltd, New York & London in 1979, here is the first hardback printing of Ralph Steadman's Sigmund Freud. 118 pages, olive green cloth binding, red lettering, supreme b/w typical Steadman illustrations throughout, the book is in very good condition with a blue ink dedication to a previous owner on the reverse of the front free end paper. There is some dusty spotting to the top page edges and some occasional minor bumping and scuffing to the boards. The price-clipped dust jacket is good, with some edge creasing and chipping plus 4 smallish tears(one approximately 20mm in length at the top of the book, near the spine at the front. The other tears approx 5mm-15mm in length are again at the top but of the jacket, but this time at the rear. A decent 1st edition offering. The book is oversized and heavy and therefore to areas outside the UK, additional postage must be reluctantly applied to keep the business viable as follows: Europe £5, Rest of the World £12.
