A short chapter is devoted to Soviet design philosophy. It is, however, a limited aim; a discussion of the relative merits and demerits of Soviet designs, techniques, procedures or tactical doctrine has been deliberately avoided. The intention ihas been to provide a balanced and impartial survey of the Soviet helicopter scene. The book is for the interested layman and I hope that I have therefore succeeded in elininating all but the most essential technical terms. I have included a simple Glossary.
