Synopsis

Chinye's callous stepmother sends her out into the dark forest to fetch water. Terror lurks behind every tree and ghostly figures cross her path, but there are even stranger surprises at her journey's end - gold and prosperity for the person who chooses well, whirlwind destruction for the greedy.

A propos du livre

Revue de presse

The scheme provides children with good writing models. It builds confidence and stretches gifted children. ( Holly Nolan , Dulwich Village Infants School)

We like the repetition and rigour of RWI Comprehension, and children always enjoy working with the modules linked to children's books. The pitch of the activities is very good as it encourages all the children and helps to stretch them. ( Downshall Primary School, Ilford.)

RWI Comprehension gets our children to a secure Level 3. ( Bea Coates, Grafton Primary School, Holloway)

The children's imagination takes off. They start to use sentences they would never have used before they did the Comprehension modules. Children love the Vocabulary Catch and the Fantastic Sentences. ( Val Wing, Whetstone Field Primary School, Walsall)

Présentation de l'éditeur

Read Write Inc. Comprehension is the next step in developing children's composition and writing skills once they have become confident readers. The programme offers 30 weekly modules, specially written to link reading and writing activities to carefully levelled texts. 16 of the modules are linked to published quality fiction and non-fiction children's books. The accompanying Read Write Inc. module offers activities which provide practice in reading, writing and spelling, and consolidate the pupils' knowledge through comprehension and guided composition. The illustrated children's books, of which this is one, that accompany 16 of the Comprehension modules can all be purchased from Oxford University Press in the same way as the module packs.
