This new edition of Electronic Beowulf (DVD with user guide) has been created for students and general readers to explore this iconic manuscript. The Third Edition encompasses a huge database of digital images, and adds new strategies to the original edition, designed to help learn the language, the grammar, and the metre of the poem. New interface devices give easy access to all these features, with cross-references to print editions, access to an interlinear translation and option for a variety of desktop arrangements. In addition to the image-based edition of Beowulf, the Student Edition provides facsimiles of the entire composite codex, BL MS Cotton Vitellius A. xv, as well as the eighteenth-century transcripts and nineteenth-century collations that rescued much of the text from fire damage. This DVD with user guide is PC and Mac compatible.

Kevin Kiernan is Emeritus Professor of English at the University of Kentucky, and the author of Beowulf and the Beowulf Manuscript (British Library, 1996) and The Thorkelin Transcripts of Beowulf (Rosenkilde and Bagger, 1986). Ionut Emil Iacob is Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences at Georgia Southern University and has contributed to a large number of publications on image-based electronic editions of manuscripts.
