Flora Jane Thompson (5 December 1876 – 21 May 1947) was an English novelist and poet famous for her semi-autobiographical trilogy about the English countryside, Lark Rise to Candleford. Flora, was a self-taught writer and a largely self-educated woman. She wrote extensively, publishing short stories and newspaper articles.
By the author of the autobiographical "Lark Rise to Candleford", this book is a fictional portrait of an Oxfordshire village and its inhabitants around Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887. It was first published posthumously in 1948.
