Synopsis
A first-hand account of how one couple fought to adopt a Romanian child. Small, sickly and undernourished when, aged 23 months, Michael was found in a Bucharest orphanage. He could neither walk, talk or stand, his legs wasted by a lifetime spent in a cot. When his mother gave her consent for him to be adopted the Fowlers thought that his misery was soon to be over. But then began the long battle to overcome bureaucracy, both in Romania and Britain. Michael Trifan owes his present happiness - and his life - to the courage of his adoptive parents, Deborah and Alan Fowler. This book tells their story.
