Jonathan Swift is an infinitely intriguing figure in the literary and political history of England and Ireland. Best known as the author of GULLIVERS TRAVELS, he was an ordained clergyman whose enemies thought did not believe in God. Biographie de l'auteur
Victoria Glendinning's first book was a family a memoir, A Suppressed Cry (1969). She is author of four biographies of women writers: Elizabeth Bowen (1977); Edith Sitwell: A Unicorn Among Lions (which won the Duff Cooper Memorial Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, 1981); Vita, a life of Vita Sackville-West (join winner of the Whitbread Award for the best biography, 1983); and Rebecca West (1987). Trollope represents a new departure in that this is the first time she has written the life of a man.
Her novel, The Grown-Ups, was published in 1989. She writes reviews and articles for The Times, the Telegraph and other periodicals, and lives in London and West Cork.
