In FOX ON THE ROOF, Robert and Beth find a family of foxes living in the school loft. They try to keep it secret and feed the cubs but soon the foxes cause chaos. In DOGS ARE DIFFERENT, Martin's family give him an Alsatian for Christmas without really thinking about it. Rather than lose his unsuitable pet, Martin runs away with his dog. They're soon found and the police are happy to train the Alsatian as Martin is reconciled to having a smaller dog. Tom looks for the right pet in TROUBLE WITH ANIMALS and soon learns that animals never quite do what you want them to.
