Ian McIntyre worked for many years for the BBC, on both sides of the microphone. He was first presenter of Radio 4's ANALYSIS programme in the 1970s, and was subsequently the Corporation's longest-serving Controller of Radio 3. He was also Controller of Radio 4. Ian McIntyre's other books include THE EXPENSE OF GLORY: A LIFE OF JOHN REITH and DIRT AND DEITY: A LIFE OF ROBERT BURNS.
