Until very recently, The Jungle Play was buried amongst the author's effects at the University of Sussex Library. Based on the original stories of THE JUNGLE BOOKS the play escaped the destruction that befell almost all of Kipling's other unpublished works. Although never produced on stage, this dramatic version of the classic is a wonderful addition to the Kipling canon with five new songs and original drawings by the author.

Thomas Pinney is William M Keck Distinguished Service Professor of English at Pomona College, California, and chair of the department before his retirement. In addition to editing Kipling's letters, he is editor of the Essays of George Eliot and the Letters of Thomas Babington Macaulay and the author of A SHORT HISTORY OF WINE IN AMERICA.
