Alfred Sisley is now recognized as one of the great landscape painters of the 19th century, and a leading figure in the Impressionist movement. Richard Shone is an Associate Editor of the Burlington Magazine. His publications include Bloomsbury Portraits (1976, revised 1993), Walter Sickert (1988) and Sisley (1992), published to coincide with a major exhibition of Sisley's work at the Royal Academy, London.
