Synopsis

The Old Testament comprises many well-loved stories and many others that are more obscure. There are accounts of kings and slaves, priests and prophets. There are laws and poetry and genealogies. It is vital to our understanding of the New Testament, yet its complexity can be daunting. A Beginner's Guide to the Old Testament helps us through these complex Scriptures. Robert Davidson shows us how the landscape of the Middle East influenced events, and tells us about the people who lived there, how to approach each of the many books of the Old Testament and how the Old Testament was put together. With a Foreword by John Goldingay, this book is your first step on a great journey of discovery.
