John Bailey is a historian who taught for several years before concentrating on travelling, writing and photography. He specializes in the 18th and 19th centuries and his particular interest is the social history of the countryside. The author of several books, he also co-presents BBC2s Countryside Hour and lives in rural Norfolk.
