Synopsis

Catching some of the echoes from a life with its own redemptive message for the people of Northern Ireland, Cal McCrystal's REFLECTIONS ON A QUIET REBEL is in part a memoir of his father, a man of character & intellectual strength who, to the end ofhis days, never lost faith in his notion that the Protestant and Catholic working-classes would eventually discard their differences. It is also about the Ireland in which he grew up before the outbreak of recent Troubles, the Ireland of his childhood. Sharply observed and beautifully written.
