Periscope 1 is the first stage of a three-part course for Key Stage 3 French. Its aim is to introduce pupils to French in a clear, appealing way, through logical straightforward explanations of how the language works, using a variety of interesting texts and recordings.

The Pupil's Book has a logical approach which is designed to build up an understanding of language structures. It uses imaginative tasks to offer simple explanations, in English, of key grammatical patterns. Four recreational units, placed at regular intervals through the course, use game-based tasks to enable pupils to enjoy using the language previously learned. Emphasis is placed on pronunciation and a grammar index and reference section are included.

Biographie de l'auteur

Ian Maun has also moved from full-time teaching -including long experience as an MFL head of department - to full-time freeelance language work, including the writing of language resources, examining, PGCE lecturing at Exeter University, and translation.
Martina Esser, a former secondary MFL teacher, is now a lecturer in French and German at Exeter University School of Education. She is also an experienced textbook author and examiner.
