James Morrison is a writer, journalist and academic living in Brighton. After graduation, he trained as a reporter, working for a string of local newspapers before moving to the nationals. He was formerly Arts and Media correspondent on the Independent on Sunday. Since 2003, he has worked as a lecturer on journalism and is currently a senior lecturer and MA admissions tutor at the University of Kingston. In 2014 he completed a PhD focusing on media representations and public perceptions of children. He also writes freelance newspaper and magazine articles and academic papers. James Morrison is the author of Essential Public Affairs for Journalists (Oxford University Press, 2013), now a set text for journalism students in the UK.
