Fed up driving an old mud wagon to deliver mail around Tucson, Arizona, young Jeff Hayden is eager for change. But his boss reckons he doesn't have the experience to handle the more prestigious Concord stagecoaches. When a special delivery of gold to Gila Bend is lacking a suitable driver, Jeff's hero Trace Wildeblood suggests he is more than capable of handling a full team. During a robbery by Squint Rizzo and his gang, Trace's beloved sweetheart, a passenger, is shot dead. Jeff is blamed and finds himself in more trouble than he had ever bargained for. Overcoming his guilt, the young driver is forced to grow up quickly when he joins the pursuing posse. But can he accept the responsibilities of manhood before Trace's lust for revenge rides roughshod over the rule of law?
