Synopsis

This is a series of 25 comprehension exercises designed to give pupils practice in studying and understanding different forms of written passages and in solving questions raised from their reading. These exercises are intended as a continuation of the Reading Comprehension exercises for Key Stage 1. The passages provide a wide range of reading experience through extracts from children's fiction both classic and modern, factual passages, poetry, newspapers, television listings, adverts, menus and leaflets. The passages also introduce a variety of creative writing opportunities. They are arranged in the following categories: units 1- 10 are aimed at level 4 of the national curriculum, units 11 - 18 are aimed at the top of level 4 moving into level 5, units 19 - 25 are aimed at level 5.
