Vendeur : Morgan Books UK, Cardiff, Royaume-Uni
Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. Claire Dalby and K. A. Kershaw (illustrateur). 1st Edition, Illustrated Edition. Small hardback in burgundy boards with white spine lettering, complete with original dust jacket. Illustrated with colour plates, black-and-white photographs and line drawings. The book provides a concise introduction to lichens, including structure, reproduction, ecology, collecting, identification keys and descriptions of common species. Edition: > 1st Edition in the original sense, as earlier Observer's Book of Lichens editions appeared in the 1960s. The 1977 version was rewritten with new illustrations, and this is the first edition of that. Condition: Very Good overall to nearly fine. The book itself is clean, sound and tightly bound with only light handling wear and very light page discolouration. Pages are clean and readable. Burgundy boards are very bright, with just a minor discolouration at the top spine edge. The one oddity is the first cover page is stuck on the corner (see photo). I didn't try to free the page. Original dust jacket present. Jacket is in very good condition (especially the edges) but shows age-toning/yellowing with light shelf wear and handling marks. Original printed price of £1.10 net visible on the jacket flap. A good collectible copy for Observer's Books collectors, natural history readers, botany enthusiasts and anyone interested in lichens, field guides or vintage Frederick Warne publications.
