The book was published in just this single printing, with a single jacket design. With the printer's code: 0010.678 which I believe indicates that the book was printed in Jun 1978. Describing American, British and European Big Bands, their Music and their Musicians with 87 black and white photographs. ***This copy comes with the seldom found loosely inserted Observer's Big Band Album single-leaf prospectus - uncreased. (see scans) ***Near fine in black textured boards with white titles to the spine and front board. The covers are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine slightly creased, otherwise no bumps, creases or tears. Corners sharp. No reading lean to the binding. Page block edges clean. Internally the book is also near fine, with photographic illustrated endpapers. No previous ownership inscriptions or other annotations. No creases or tears. No cracking to the binding. Spine tight. ***In a near fine colour illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of �1.25 net to the front flap. The dustwrapper is complete without any loss, with just very slight rubbing and creasing at the extremities, commensurate with age and handling. No serious creases or tears. No chips or loss. There is overall browning to the mainly white dustwrapper. Slight fading to the red titles on the spine. ***147mm x 95mm. 192 pages including a List of Singers, Abbreviated Discography, Bibliography and a detailed seven-page Index at the back of the book. ***'x.' (Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper) ***A 1978 first and only printing of one of the harder to find titles in the Observer's series, in near fine original condition - with the seldom found loosely inserted Observer's Big Band Album single-leaf prospectus. Many of these books were handled by children and consequently show a lot of wear and tear.
