Prof. Besser is a very highly respected clinician within the UK, where he ishead of both Medicine and Endocrinology at St Bart's. His department sees the highest number of endocrinology cases in Europe and his role as Chairman ofthe Save Bart's campaign made him very high-profile in the medical community.

Prof. Thorner trained with Besser and moved to the USA 15 years ago. He is a leading USA endocrinologist and heads up one of the most active clinical and research units in endocrinology in the USA.
