After a year out recovering from the violent death of her boyfriend, Dr Sarah Brackley has returned to the international oil industry to take part in a conference staged in the sweltering heat of the Middle East. But easing back into life as an acclaimed scientist proves more difficult than she thought, especially in a culture renowned for its suspicion of eminent women.
