A must-have book for all young feminists, Feminism, Interrupted is a clarion call for a better world….
Now is the time to reclaim a rebellious, radical feminism, and Lola Olufemi can show you the way.
“I was blown away”- Angela Davis
“An inspiring call to reclaim feminism from its current commodification, and recognise it as a truly intersectional struggle for social justice” – Guardian
Plastered onto tote bags, stitched onto t-shirts, and hashtagged across social media the word “feminist” has entered the mainstream and is fast becoming a popular slogan for our generation. But feminism isn’t a commodity up for purchase; is more than a marketable slogan—it’s a radical, urgent tool for dismantling injustice.
Feminism, Interrupted is a bold manifesto that reclaims feminism from consumer culture instead centring it as a revolutionary force. Uncompromising and revolutionary, it explores:
• State violence against women and how systemic power maintains gendered oppression
• Reproductive justice and body autonomy
• Transmisogyny …. who wins?
• Sex work and criminalization and how to support sex workers
• Gendered Islamophobia… the intersection of race, religion, and gendered oppression
• The Answers to Sexual Violence… it is not more prisons
This book is about building a world free from oppression, showing that showing that the struggle for gendered liberation is a struggle for justice, and a struggle that can transform the world for everyone.
“A brave manifesto ... [Feminism, Interrupted] unravels a silenced history of radicalism and points toward a truly just future” – Jacobin
“Powerful”- Stylist
Reading her is to believe that another world is possible.” - Nesrine Malik (Guardian)
“A well-argued, no-nonsense account, and essential reading for anyone interested in the state of Feminism today”- Stella Dadzie (co-author of “The Heart of the Race: Black Women’s Lives in Britain”)
“This book shows that the struggle for gendered liberation can change the world for everybody when we refuse to think of it solely as women’s work” - Refinery29 UK
“It’s the feminist manifesto we need” - New Socialist
