Synopsis

This reference book lists close to 250 types of cut flowers and foliage grown commercially around the world. Each flower type is illustrated, accompanied by a detailed description and information on when it is available, how open it should be when purchased, its expected vase life and how to take care of it. Care tips for the flower trade are also given. The chain of distribution of flowers from the grower to the consumer is described, giving an overall view of the care which flowers need at each stage in their display life. Advice is also given on coping with and avoiding common problems, as well as caring for them in order to prolong their life. A chapter on flower arranging offers ideas for different ways of using a wide range of flowers and foliage and explains basic techniques and procedures. Dried flowers are also included, with hints on different ways of drying them.
