Présentation de l'éditeur

Anna Breton is living with her lover Jean in her beautiful old family home in the South of France; past the first flush of youth, Anna had not expected to find romance again, and she can't remember when she was last so happy. She is devastated to receive a letter from her adult daughter, Francesca, threatening to tell Jean the truth about Anna's past. Anna fears the idyll is over, for her secret is a terrible one: Francesca's father was Anna's own, now deceased brother. As Anna relives the exhilarating and terrible days of the relationship that broke the laws both of society and of nature, the reader is drawn into the dramatic, captivating and unforgettable story of her family, from the idyllic summers of the 1930s through the war and its aftermath and back to the present moment, where Jean must accept the truth if Anna and he are to have a future together.
