Synopsis
In this memoir the author pays tribute to the life of her husband, David Penhaligon, a Liberal MP who had served 12 years in Parliament when he died in a car crash. He attracted much affection and loyalty from his constituents and those who knew him.

Shops stopped trading and crowds gathered around the cathedral to hear what they could of the what was taking place inside. It was the memorial service for someone described by himself, and his wife in this biography, as a very oridinary man - a back-bench MP for a small political party, who had served twelve years in Westminster. David Penhaligon was a rarity, politicians as a breed are generally not popular, but Penhaligan was more than popular. He was loved, not just by his constituents and the people of Cornwall, but by the whole country. This book explains why this was so, and what a tragic loss his early death in a car crash was to the nation, by robbing the country of a true statesman and possible future political leader.
