Meryle Secrest was born and educated in Bath. She has written biographies of Romaine Brooks, Bernard Berenson, Kenneth Clark, Salvador Dali, Frank Lloyd Wright, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. She lives in Maryland, USA.
