Soundstart is a phonics-based reading programme, providing seven levels of progression from pre-reading to age 7. The Blue Core and Booster Packs consist of seven mixed titles - 1 Core Reader and six Booster Readers which introduce the common long vowel phonemes whilst extending the key sight recognition vocabulary. Designed to encourage awareness of and sensitivity to more complex rime, based on vowel digraphs. Also introduces onset which includes the consonant digraphs ch, th, and the thr pattern. Core and Booster titles are available in guided reading sets (single title x 5).
