Synopsis

Leadership is about converting vision into reality via strategic thinking and co-ordinated action. It is about defining and clarifying a vision and inspiring others not only to 'sign up' to the vision, but to commit themselves enthusiastically to sharing responsibility for the process of implementing it. 'Extraordinary Leadership' provides a unique synthesis of the very best thinking on how to manage both performance and uncertainty, and a practical summary of the models that constitute best practice - both for business and for the public sector. The title includes: A methodology for approaching strategic planning An understanding of the personal characteristics and life long-learning habits which define and strengthen extraordinary leadership An opportunity to reflect on one's own strengths and areas for improvement Models for converting vision into action with discreet stages and helpful checklists A holistic approach to implementing performance improvement A guidebook and 'toolkit' with which leaders can develop the required competencies in members of their management teams. Also provided is an entirely non-technical introduction to the field of e-strategy and the leadership challenges of the new global economy. Written in an accessible and practical style, 'Extraordinary Leadership' provides the reader with a clear understanding of the concepts and practice of leadership from the perspective of Peter Reed's 20 years' international experience in development and consulting.
