Synopsis
This book covers the development of the electric light bulb from Edison's experiments to electric circuits on small and large scales; Michael Farraday's electric generator; light sources and the difference between natural light and the sun to electric light and how we see light, the spectrum and Sir Isaac Newton, shadows, reflections, scattering and refraction. It is one of a series which explains science through examining items that children know about. Each book combines a small amount of history with information on how the object works and the forces or scientific principles behind it. Each book is directly relevant to Key Stage 2.

À propos de l'auteur
After graduating and doing research into physics, Neville Evans taught physics and science in secondary schools and higher education. For most of his career, he was a member of Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Schools and Colleges in Wales. His main work was to do with science in scholos and colleges. He retired from the post in August 1998.
