Synopsis
For a long time the Picts were known almost entirely from their mysterious symbol stones, which scholars have tried to interpret and date. Many problems remain unsolved concerning their links with the Scots. This account presents the latest archaeological discoveries and discusses the relationship between these two peoples, tracing their development from raids on Roman Britain to the formation of rival Dark Age kingdoms that produced a unique artistic inheritance.

Biographie de l'auteur
Lloyd Laing is a senior lecturer in archaeology at the University of Nottingham. Jenny Laing is a full time writer. Previous joint publications include Art of the Celts, Origins of Britain, Medieval Britain, The Age of Chivalry and Celtic Britain and Ireland. Jenny Laing's recent publications include Warriors of the Dark Ages and Art and Society in Roman Britain.
