Synopsis

Tomorrow is For Ever: Alan Carter is called up to the Great War after only one week of marriage. When Alan is wounded and sent to Cornwall to convalesce, he has time to think about his wife and the career as a writer that he secretly nurtures. He is accepted by the established colony of Newlyn artists and one artist in particular - Vicky Hazleton -encourages Alan's leanings towards the arts. Vicky stirs other feelings: inappropriate and impossible ones. Vicky and her set inhabit a different world from Alan, but he belongs to London's East End - and to Dora ...The Lost Years: Cornwall, 1914. Perys Tremayne arrives at the ancient family home of Heligan House. But this is not a social visit: Perys is hoping to use his family connections to start a military career with the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry. Perys is a Tremayne, but only just. While family tensions continue to strain, Perys finds friendship with the locals, in particular farm girl Annie Bray. Annie, though, has long been the subject of a tacit agreement between her parents and neighbours the Rowes, to one day marry their son Jimmy. And when Jimmy is badly injured at Ypres, Annie cannot refuse. It seems that Perys and Annie are fated to remain apart, but in this war to end all wars, one can never be sure what is to happen next ...
