Biographie de l'auteur
The Author, RV Smith, PhD, MSc, CEng, FRAeS, is an aeronautical engineer, aircraft owner and a private pilot of 24 years standing. His career includes 15 years at Westland Helicopters, and 12 years at British Aerospace/BAE SYSTEMS. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), a past Chairman of the RAeS Rotorcraft Committee and a member of the RAes Historical Group Committee.
With a long standing interest in vintage aircraft, the author has restored a 1938 Tipsy B and regularly flies a 1946 Luscombe Silvaire and a 1942 Taylorcraft Plus D.
Memberships include American Helicopter Society, Society of Automotive Engineers, Popular Flying Association, Vintage Aircraft Club and the International Auster Club.
His other interests include aircraft photography and classic cars, owning a 1969 Lotus Elan sports car.
