As a couple drive across America, the anguish, humour and tragedy of their lives emerge in this beautifully written novel. Between the meetings with people from their past, Marion and Barnaby live and re-live their own secret dreams, and in the elusive, edgy dialogues of a long married couple, reveal more about themselves than they might care to confess.
