Synopsis

David Dickinson is the hottest new antiques celebrity in Britain today. With twenty five years as a professional dealer, he has bought an invigorating enthusiasm and authority to TV antiques shows which has blown away the stuffiness and elitism usually associated with collecting. In spring 2000, Bargain Hunt aired at 11 o'clock each morning on BBC1 four days each week for the 10 week run, capturing the highest morning viewing figures of 1.2 million. A new series was broadcast this Autumn increasing viewing figures to 1.8 million and a new series of 36 shows is planned for broadcast starting March 2001. In the show David visits sale rooms and show grounds with two teams who have to buy then sell on a budget. The winner is the team who makes the most money. This book is a field guide to the do's and don'ts of buying antiques from auctions and salerooms to fairs and shops. In addition it will contain a comprehensive A-Z guide to the sales and antique auctions across the country and lists of addresses and telephone numbers, making it a true pocket reference work.
