Anton Rippon is a Derby Boy. He was born in the town just before Christmas 1944, has lived there ever since, and is now one of the city's best-known local writers and personalities. Indeed, his popular features on people and events in Derby began almost thirty years ago, and he has been a familiar name and face ever since. In telling of his own childhood and teenage years, Anton recalls events and characters familiar to thousands of Derbeians. THIS is a thank-you letter to the author of the book my step-daughter, Stacey, gave me at Christmas A Derby Boy, by Anton Rippon. I am not one for picking up a book and just reading it but this brought back a lot of memories, I could not put it down. It was all about the area I was brought up in. I was born at 56 Lynton Street.
