Imagine a banana. What colour is it? Yellow, of course. Now try to form a picture of one that doesn't exist, that can't exist: a blue banana with red spots. Imagine that. How did you do? Igor Aleksander has been studying intelligent systems for more than thirty years. He has published 10 books and over 200 scientific papers on the subject and leads a 20-strong research team. He is currently Gabor Professor of Electrical Engineering and Head of Intelligent and Interactive Systems at Imperial College in London.
