Synopsis

In Southeast Asia we have stark evidence of the tension between economic change and human well-being. This volume examines a number of key sectors within the societies and economies of Indonesia and the Philippines, with some reference to other parts of the region, in order to analyze the relationship between the dynamics of development as pursued through economic investment and social change and the impact such activities has on the local environment.
