The interviews cover a broad spectrum of musicians working in Britain. These include classical performers, an animateur, jazz and folk musicians, composers and those involved with education, musical criticism, writing and broadcasting. Among those interviewed are Dame Janet Baker, Howard Goodall, Stephen Hough, Sir Roger Norrington, John Rutter and Andy Sheppard. "Making Music in Britain" looks at music from the unique perspective of the inspirers and motivators of today, exploring their development as musicians as well as placing their work in the musical context of our time.

Elizabeth Haddon graduated from the University of York with a BA(Hons) in Music in 1987. Her work as a freelance musician has included instrumental teaching, editorial work, early music performance and administration for the new music group Icebreaker. She has also performed and taught Javanese gamelan in the UK and abroad. She currently teaches piano privately and at the University of York.
