'Straininig with vitality, LA's big and belly-laughing family would ride out the 20th centuary mingling and networking like a pack of frenzied lab rodents set loose in a wild think tank of speed'. Joe Scalzo's colourfull proze is worth the cover price along, but his exotic tale of of Los Angeles role in American racing is so varied and well illustrated that no real aficiando would consider his library complete without it. --The Independant

Scalzo uses a lot of nicknames and odd subject refrences throughout the book, so it's an attentive read. Excellent photography is provided on nearly every page, with captions to supplememnt the text. City of Speed truly dives headfirst into the LA Racing scene, meaning even the knowlegable racing fan is sure to learn something new --Gayotdot com

City Of Speed makes a good case that the West Coast Auto scene was ( and is) as colourfull and full of characters as NASCAR country --Motorsport dot com
